Michael Wright - Founder, Owner and Tour Leader
Michael is a passionate naturalist, conservationist and adventurer who loves birding, rare mammals, walking trails and photography. He is a registered professional in natural science, nature tour guiding and ecotourism consulting with 25 years’ of industry experience. He has travelled extensively through Southern Africa, Mauritius and North America, and further to his great passion for rare mammals and birds; also enjoys animal behaviour, flyfishing, butterflies, herping, trees, wilderness, and ball sports.

By April 2025, Michael had a Southern African bird lifelist of 752 species, a Southern African mammal lifelist of 149 species, a Southern African reptile list of 62 species, a South African butterfly lifelist of 105 species, and a South African frog lifelist of 37 species.
Michael enjoys sharing nature-based and adventure experiences with people from all over the world, and despite his extensive knowledge and experience, he continually seeks opportunities to immerse himself in nature, continue to learn from it, learn from those who conserve it, and educate others about its value.

He has led many tours in South Africa, Botswana, Namibia, Zimbabwe, Zambia, Eswatini (Swaziland), Mozambique, and Lesotho. He has also worked in the United States of America and the Southern Ocean. During his Southern and East African adventures, he has explored 127 national parks, game reserves and nature reserves.
​
He guides with professionalism, skill, and care, backed by his accreditations, experience in nature and outdoor adventure and extensive travel experience.
Michael and his wife, Natalie, work together in their three businesses, and have two children: a son and a daughter.

PC Ferreira - Founder and Marketing Manager
PC is an entrepreneur, and the enthusiastic and passionate marketing engine behind the business.
PC joined his father on their farm near Hanover when he finished school in 1992. He began as a Merino sheep farmer and then undertook the adventurous journey of diversifying their business.
​
In 1995 PC renovated and converted New Holme into a guest farm, and in 2000, the adjacent Mieliefontein opened its doors to guests as well. Today 86 guests can be accommodated in the various accommodation options within the now Khoisan Karoo Conservancy, established by PC and his family in 2015.
​
New Holme has become a popular wedding venue, birders' paradise and nature lovers retreat. New Holme also hosts the annual Colesberg Equestrian Endurance ride, the Lazy Hippo MTB Stage Race and other events.
​
PC's vision is to expend the conservancy to eventually proclaim the whole of the Seekoei river as a nature reserve, a massive area of 450,000 ha, comprising 57 different landowners.
​
PC is married to Mariska, the talented chef and host at New Holme, and together they have 4 wonderful daughters.

Natalie Wright - Office and Finance Manager
Natalie is an financial and administrative whizz who loves family, staying healthy, the outdoors and reading.
​
Natalie is our office manager and the administrative heart of the company, ensuring its efficient functioning, and keeping all the good checks and balances in place.
​
Natalie has worked in South Africa and Mozambique, and holds diplomas in Bookkeeping and Nature Conservation, and certificates in financial accounting and payroll.
